Code of Conduct

The Remakery is an inclusive community where all our members and visitors should feel welcome, and make each other feel welcome. We ask each of our members and visitors to abide by the following code of conduct.

Respect the Remakery’s Aims.

The aims of the Remakery are to carry on any business for the benefit of the community by:

a) Providing workspace and support networks for re-use and upcycling enterprises and initiatives; b) Making re-use an accessible and attractive option for our local community c) Enabling the development of skills, innovation and creative design in re-use and upcycling; and d) Similar activities to promote and develop resourcefulness and resilience, contributing towards a zero waste Brixton.

Respect other people respect people’s gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. Respect people’s opinions, background and their abilities. We do not tolerate harassment of people at our events or space in any form.

Support each other and be patient. Be nice, support each other, teach what you know. If you see someone struggling, offer to give them a hand and respect them if they decline. Be tolerant as what is important to you might not be important to someone else, and vice versa. Respect the space and the work of others. Learn what you need to so that you can use the space safely. Use the space, equipment and tools in consideration of the people around you and leave things as you would hope to find them. Respect each other’s work – only handle other’s work and materials if you absolutely need to, and respect reservations made on materials.

Love thy Remakery neighbours. Our neighbours have been – and continue to be – an essential part of making the Remakery possible. Please show them respect, and arrive, use and leave the Remakery with them in mind. Respect Remakery rules and the law. The Remakery abides by a set of rules which can be found on the website (https://remakery.org) and are available on request at the Remakery. These outline its objects, governance structure, grievance procedures and other matters. Illegal activity will not be tolerated at the Remakery.

Report any accidents, injuries or breakages Help us to run a safe space by reporting any accidents, injuries or breakages. If you see someone using equipment or materials in an unsafe way, politely make them aware of it, or report it.
